BlackBerry Blogging or Blah, Blah, Blah, Blah

Seriously, have you ever asked yourself just what is a blog? The word blog to me sounds like blah which makes me think of blah, blah, blah, blah. Blogging has become one of the most popular and influential ways of disseminating information. Many people have personal blogs about their families, hobbies or causes they support. Others use them to provide information relating to their specific business or industry. And of course those which most of us search for are the ones about the BlackBerry or anything remotely connected with the BlackBerry. The thing I find most interesting about those who do BlackBerry blogs is that when any new information comes out there is usually only a couple of people who get the "scoop" and as soon as other bloggers find out they immediately start blogging the same information. Everyone wants to draw readers and to do this you have to have up-to-date blogs. If you went to 10 blogs and read about the Queen visiting RIM all ten of them would pretty much have the same details. Why? Because most everyone has either taken what was in a press release or read a blog that was already posted. Everyone is looking for a source so that they can be "first to break the news". If you don't have sources chances are you will never be "first"! Unless you are like me and stay up most of the night and happen to catch something the minute it is released while everyone else is sleeping. So given all 10 had basically the same information what does a blog need to draw readers? Personality! Anyone can write words but it takes someone who knows the subject (BlackBerry), loves to write and who knows their audience to be a successful blogger. Next time you are reading blah, blah, blah read other blogs and compare them. See if you can find a blogger who has a passion for what he/she blogs about, who writes in their own style, and doesn't write just because everyone else is doing the same thing. No more blahs! You don't have to be the one who always has the first scoop to be a successful writer. A successful writer is someone who has something to say that readers want to read.
